Markets continue to churn at these levels. The earning as catalyst trade continues to work well. For those following earning strategy, there are number of stocks reacting positively to earning growth or surprises.

not sure about other housing stocks, but TOL hasnt been doing too well - timing is the killer - shorts told that bottom was put in and now many value players underwater - markets out to destroy everyone in that sector for the short term, at least
ReplyDeleteThe value funds bought in June-July, so they are hardly under water. Are probably up and will continue to write options on it. Plus they hold for years, so they would not be bothered by it.
ReplyDeleteThe better shorts are always at or near top of range.
I would rather look at short ideas in following stocks for better risk rewards(I have not cleaned it for mergers and other stuff).

If your holding GROW today, congratulations on great earnings and price pop. I'm holding RIO and also good earnings from this iron oar company. Also bought DAKT the other day and breaking out today. Things are looking better on the long side.
ReplyDeleteI would be very careful with DAKT. Lot of things which I have tested on short side, show the rallies after 25% plus high volume drop are prone to failure.
ReplyDeleteMost things I have are up nicely, which always scares me, the market might be ready to hit air pocket.
Don't plan on holding DAKT into earnings next week.

Look good to me, but barring few , they have not caught fire post earning.
