There are only two stocks on the scan today, one is long the other is short. UUU,Universal Security Instruments has very small float, so you have to be careful in entering and trading it.

The short idea is ATI,Allegheny Technologies. It has around 90 million float. One thing to be careful on short side is risk of takeover. There is lot of merger activity in the metals sector currently.

If you are looking for speculative low priced buy (lottery ticket), then look at CHRK,Cherokee Intl. I some time buy these small speculative stock with play money. You need lot of appetite for risk to play them.I have a small portfolio dedicated to such stocks.

Not everyday there are ten opportunities. Today there are only four stocks showing up on the computer. While yesterday there were good moves immediately, these are not day trading picks. These are picked with a high probability of making 20% plus moves in next 6-12 months. As usual the three keys to trading them successfully is to cut losses short, to not cherry pick the worst out of them (for best results a portfolio approach is best) and not to forget to keep the trading Gods on your side.

CMOS is a dog of dogs. The management team is in chaos, too many product lines producing too little revenue, too much concentration in a few customers and managers bailing from the ship recently. You might want to check your "human filter" or publish why this is a good pick according to it. Else, this casts into doubt your picking ability.

Pre conceived opinions like this can prevent you from trading profitably many of these picks. According to some perma bears every stock in the stock universe satisfies above criteria. CMOS is up 190% in last 65 days in spite of those factors.

Not a very spectacular day for the ten ideas I guess! List is up collectively 2.85%. Let us see what happens over the a longer time frame. Key is to cut losses shorts on those position which do not work and also protect your 20% profit when you get it.

The trading Gods were smiling on some people today. Even though the picks are for long term play, some people seem to have played them well as day trades (going by the donations so far). Thanks a ton for those who donated today.

Here are ten stocks I find worth considering based on Friday action. Most of them, I already have positions in. This is a new daily feature based on reader feedback asking for narrow set of focused ideas everyday. It is also an answer to those newsletter writers and TV pundits challenging me to specific recommendations and track record after my post about those complaining about November, and those not beating S&P and those selling high priced newsletters. Lets see if the 50-100 ideas over the next 3-6 month beat the markets or not.

Some days there will be ten ideas, some days less than ten depending on market conditions. Some days there will be short ideas. All the ideas are generated using some of the methodologies I have talked about earlier. The selection process is combination of computer generation followed by human filtering to reduce them to ten.Each idea has potential to make 20% plus for holding period of six month to 1 year. As always the key to trading them is to keep losses small. I will soon be adding more such features and watch list of potential ideas, plus tracking for all ideas.
