Stocks on the move

Gold is on the move again. The Gold sector is number seven in terms of yearly growth amongst 239 sectors.

SA, Seabridge Gold Inc

Seabridge Gold Inc. (Seabridge) operates in the mineral exploration sector, with all of its operations located in Canada, Mexico and the United States. The Company's properties include Courageous Lake in the Northwest Territories, Canada; Grassy Mountain and Quartz Mountain in Oregon; Kerr-Sulphurets and Red Mountain in British Columbia; and Hog Ranch and Castle/Black Rock in Nevada. The Company's nine projects contain an estimated 9.9 million ounces of gold and 1.5 billion pounds of copper in measured and indicated resources, and a further 7.39 million ounces of gold and 1.2 billion pounds of copper in inferred resources. Seabridge has acquired more than 25 exploration projects in Nevada, all with known gold occurrences.

LCC, US Airways Group Inc and CAL, Continental Airlines

The airline industry has history of boom and burst phases. After a very difficult period post dot com bubble burst and Sept 11, the industry is back with a bang.
These companies have extremely high financial leverage. They have very high fixed cost and debt levels. Any meaningful increase in revenue can thus lead to high profitability.
Number of airlines besides LCC and CAL are on the move currently. The Major Airlines sector is third best performing group with a 77% price appreciation in a year. LCC is up 273% for the year while CAL is up 217%.
