Markets unlikely to start rallying immediately

End of intense selling phase does not mean markets will start rallying vigorously. Most of the time they will spend time going sideways and offer mix of long and short strategies. Market go down or up, thicken and then intended move reasserts. On short side moves down are more jerky and volatile.

I would disagree with your choice of BOT, simply because it will be pinned due to the acquisition announcement and is more of an arbitrage play than a growth play ... IMO.

Or there might be a bidding war driving the price up. When two players are involved in a merger situation, generally the subject stock tend to move up.
