Big movers can be identified by scanning for stocks with above average volume and price change. On a daily basis various catalyst keep triggering such big moves in individual stocks and focusing on such big moves can pay rich dividend.

As usual your posts are informative, I had question on your recent post.
Can you share the formulae you have used in bottom 2 panes of the chart (below price chart).
I also use telechart.

( 100 * (C - C1) / C1) >= 8 AND V > 3000 and (100 * V / AVGV100)>=300

I dont think one can autotrade these breakout for good profit. For cap. size of ENER and earnings are "Loss to Profit", the below stocks match my breakout criteria in 2007(base on volume and price), DDS,CIEN,CTB,ALGN,WEN,CTB,WYNN,BSCI,EQIX,ONXX.
And in 2008, there are MMR,ENER,AMSX,CSIQ

ENER was quite speical in a sense as it is in a hot sector, but many others fail. If you even out the win and loss, there wont be too much profit left. Obviously we are talking about the ENER cap. size only

It is not automatic system. Factors like :
1 is it first or second major earnings acceleration
2 earnings surprise
3 sales surprise
4 margin trend
5 where is this earnings happening in price cycle
6 what was the price growth in prior 2 quarters
7 sector
8 float
etc. are some of the factors used to narrow trades.
