Options play

3
Part of my this year plan was to focus on option plays and have been experimenting with option strategies. The logic for options is different from the general earnings and momentum strategies I normally follow. Anti trend entries work better in some option strategies. I have been experimenting and fine tuning my options strategy this year and will have more about it later.

The system I am trading has triggered entries on INTC, AMD and WFMI. So I am taking those option trades.

As big of a fan of NASDAQ, I have to say that the very near term conditions for QQQQ are bearish. Sure there have been some longer term buyers in the index since the start of the year, but this index cannot stand alone as the hero. Look at IWM, MDY, SPY, DOW, etc. They are all ugly. Implied volatility in QQQQ says that the current market makers have been pricing in significantly higher risk since the beginning of the year as liquidity is threatened by interest rate hikes. The majority of today's volume was concentrated in advancers and could not push through the top of the range. I do not think it will break down too far past the recent lows but I am looking for short signals on NQ and high flier NASDAQ stocks for the next few days.

Additionally, we have the retail numbers coming out later this week which will probably be strong and further exacerbate the rate hike fears. The smart money is probably shorting now and will cover on the Friday news. JMO.
